The Staff Manager corresponds to an intermediate permission level. A user with this permission will be able to perform user management tasks including:
- Access the profiles of all users (you can see down below in this tutorial how to restrict this permission by site);
- Edit user personal and professional data on their profiles (name, job title, department, etc...);
- Create new users.
Through extra configuration, Staff Managers will also be able to define the permissions of each user. If your AGIR supports several companies in the same database, you can also filter the Staff Managers by companies, so that each Staff Manager can only manage the users of their respective company.
The creation of the Staff Manager level is recommended for medium or large companies in order to facilitate user management. If there aren't Staff Managers in your company, this management can be carried out by an AGIR Administrator.
TIP The Staff Manager access level corresponds to global permissions. To find out how to define a user as a Staff Manager, click here.
How to authorize a Staff Manager to define users' permissions
ATTENTION Attributing permissions to users is a sensitive job. We vividly advise the user creation and permissions set up to be done by Administrators. Use this configuration only if truly necessary.
1. Select your user name and click on Agir Config.
2. Select the Equipments and RH tab, and go to Advanced Settings.
3. Select the option Allow staff manager to define user permissions, as shown in the image below, and click Save. This option is now active. Staff Managers can now define users' permissions.
How to restrict users management by site
If you need to set a Staff Manager by site and limit the users that a SM can manage, you'll have to activate the option Filter Staff Manager by site. This way, Staff Managers can only see, access and edit users from the site he belongs.
To activate this option, follow the steps below:
1. Click on your user name and go to Agir Config.
2. Select the tab Equipments and RH and click on Advanced Settings.
3. Select the option FIlter staff manager by site, as shown in the image below, and click Save. This option is now active. Staff Managers will be able to access only the users from their site(s).
TIP Staff Managers can belong to more than one site. They will have access to the users that belongs to the sites they belong to.
ATTENTION This option will filter access to users by site, but doesn't filter access to workflows. That is, the SM from site A may have access to workflows belonging to site B. This is because workflows are not assigned to sites, only to users. This is why we suggest that setting permissions should be done by an Administrator only.
