AGIR will need an email configuration in order to send notifications and any other type of communication. This email account is a typical no-reply@yourdomain.com address. It's only purpose is to send email, not receiving.
Examples of type of communications:
- User email notification for new tasks
- Weekly report to a group of users
- Email reminder of an overdue task
If your organization does not provide a personalized email, all notifications will be sent through our default account, typically identified as yourdomain@myagir.pt.
To configure your own email account, proceed as follows:
1. Select your user name and click on Agir Config.
2. On the Advanced Settings tab, click on Email.
3. Fill in the menu above according to the properties of the email account you want to allocate to AGIR.
Server | Name or IP address of the computer used for SMTP transactions (Mandatory) |
Domain | Used to request the SMTP protocol to connect to the server |
User and password | Email credentials |
Port | Port number used to connect to the mail server |
SSL | Defines whether or not SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption is used |
Mask | Defines whether or not the source email address is masked, if the option is active, when the email is received, the email of the person logged in to AGIR is shown, otherwise the email configured in the Email From field is shown |
TLS | Transport Layer Security is the protocol that facilitates data security and privacy (not all email servers support this feature) |
STARTTLS | This command is used to transform a non-encrypted connection into an encrypted connection without the need to use a specific secure port, being able to use any encryption protocol that is available on the server, not necessarily being limited to TLS. |
Email (from) | It is the email address that will be shown when someone receives an email if the Mask option is not active. |
Priority | Defines the priority of the email to be sent. |
SPN | Email service provider to use for authentication |

3. Perform a final email sending test
In the end, test your email account by clicking on Send test email.
If the test is not successful, try changing the properties of your email account so that you succeed.
