Links between tasks/actions

Created by Patrícia Quinaz, Modified on Thu, 22 Dec 2022 at 04:05 PM by Virtual Agent

It's possible to create links between two or more tasks of the same process and thus, create dependencies between tasks. A dependency is basically a link between a father task and a child task. The child task will be dependent on the completion of the father task

How does it work?

When we're creating or editing a task, a new blue icon representing the link between tasks is shown on the bottom left side of the pop-up window (image below).

A list of tasks from the registry will appear when you click on this icon. By selecting one of them by either double-clicking a specific task or by clicking on the respective link icon, you will define a father task for the task you are currently creating or editing.

Example: If you select the link button of task A, you will define that task A is the father of task B (which is being edited right now).

TIP  A child task can only be closed/concluded if the father task is closed/concluded first. However, it's possible to work on both tasks simultaneously.
The father task's expected completion date will be the child task's start date.

Follow the steps below to learn how to create links between tasks:

1. After you access a registry, you must create or edit an existing task that you want to define as a child task, and click on Link to a task

2. Pick a task from the list by clicking on the link icon, or by double-clicking the task. This will be considered the father task.

3. A red circle (1) will appear on the bottom of the child task pop-up window, which means that the task can't be finished at the moment. This is because the father task is still unfinished.

Keep in mind that it's possible to eliminate a link between tasks at any time by clicking on the icon to the right (2).

In the end, save the changes.
